Hotaru Haganezuka is the talented but volatile swordsmith responsible for forging the Nichirin Blades of Tanjiro Kamado. He is known for his intense dedication and passion for his craft, which is so extreme that he flies into a comically violent rage whenever Tanjiro's sword is damaged or broken, viewing the destruction of his work as a personal affront. Haganezuka is instantly recognizable by the Hyottoko mask he constantly wears, his sunflower-patterned haori, and his thick, muscular build, which he developed further through mountain training to forge even stronger blades for his client. This singular focus on swordsmithing is so profound that, during the attack on the Swordsmith Village, he remained utterly absorbed in sharpening a 300-year-old blade, ignoring the danger and severe wounds inflicted upon him by the Upper Rank Demon, Gyokko, simply to perfect his masterpiece.
